Dr David M. Welch, M.B., B.S. (Hons), Dip R.A.C.O.G., F.R.A.C.G.P., has been with the practice since 1982, is the practice principal, and teaches, supervises and mentors G.P. registrars and junior doctors under the auspices of the RACGP (Royal Australian College of General Practitioners) and the ACRRM (Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine) training programs.
David has extensive experience in all aspects of general practice, including antenatal care, post-natal care, paediatrics, women’s health, menopause, men’s health, and geriatrics. David has special interests in skin diseases (dermatology), diagnosing skin cancers, and the treatment of pre-cancerous lesions and skin cancers with liquid nitrogen and excision.
Dr Debbie Gillon, M.D., B.N., B.App.Sc., has been living in the Northern Territory since 1997 and has worked in, Nhulunbuy, Katherine, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, the Tiwi Islands, Batchelor, and Adelaide River. She has been with Stuart Park Surgery since mid-2024, caring for people of all ages, from children to adults. Debbie’s special interests include diabetes, kidney disease, chronic disease management, ADHD, menopause care, and women’s health, including Implanon insertion and removal, and medical termination of pregnancy (MS2 Step).
Dr Mehnaz Mahmooda, M.B., B.S., joined the practice in 2026, and is committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients of all ages. With a focus on preventive medicine, she enjoys building long-term relationships with patients and their families to support their health needs. Mehnaz’s areas of interest include women’s health, paediatrics, and general medicine. She speaks English and Bangla.
Dr Michelle Ray, M.D., is with the practice in 2026, and is a GP registrar who has worked from Tasmania to Cape York in Qld, and across to WA. She cares for patients of all ages, and her interests include children's health, women's health, men's health, family medicine, diabetes management, and chronic disease management.
Dr Bhavya Balasubramanya (“Bhavya”), M.B.,B.S., M.D., D.N.B., D.T.M.H, joined the practice in 2022 and is a family physician with experience in all GP matters. Her special interests include Menopause, Skin Cancer medicine (skin checks, cryotherapy & excision of lesions), Tropical Medicine & Vaccinations, Chronic Disease Management and continuity of care, and Shared Antenatal Care with Royal Darwin Hospital. Bhavya speaks English, Kannada, Hindi & Tamil.
Dr Kim Manias, has been with the surgery since 2000, but has retired as a doctor at the end of 2024. He does, however, continue in his administrative role as our practice manager.
Our nurses, who carry out wound care, vaccinations, ear syringes, and assists the doctors are Sarah and Jessica.
